2016 Summer Reading Program

Week of June 6-10, 2016 1,2,3! Numbers

Week of June 13 - 17, 2016 Dance, Dance, Dance

Week of June 20 - 24, 2016 Yummy!


Sessions will take place at the Los Fresnos Elementary Campus.

Students will receive: Letters to parents, Reading Logs, Reading Certificates, Bag of Books, Bed Time Math worksheets. Library will provide all materials for arts and crafts and activities.


First Grade to Fifth Grade (ages 6 – 12)


Week of July 5 – July 8, 2016 Focus on the Fifties Guest Speaker: Mr. Simon Vega from Little Graceland

Week of July 11 - 15, 2016 Explore Wellness through Balanced Nutrition and Health. Guest: Jorge Metsker-Galarza.

Week of July 18 -22, 2016 2016 Summer Olympics


Sessions are from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day.


Coming soon to your favorite library! The Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library presents the 2016 Summer Reading Program. Our program is a fun way to include reading and this year our theme focuses on Sports and staying active and healthy. It helps your child maintain and improve their reading skills during their summer vacation.

Children ages 4 to 12 who participate and read will earn a certificate. There will be many fun activities that children are sure to enjoy. We will have guest speakers who will give wonderful presentations. You won’t want to miss a day.

This year’s theme is “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read”. Learn how staying active and eating healthy can help you be awesome
